This weekend sees the return of the competitor and spectator-friendly Grappling Industries to the Gold Coast, known for its impeccable formatting and breezy organisation for the team and individual.
The Grappling Industries format creates a grappler centred experience to develop the game of the competitors in a round-robin format, ensuring all adults in a 5 person division get at least 4 matches simply by signing up.
Feel like competing in Gi and NoGi to fill your day with the most rolls?
Potentially, you could be looking at 8+ matches against a variety of people with different body types, games and strengths. A day on the mats like that can put your game in perspective and enhance your grappling evolution.
Rules.
To win at GI, matches will follow the traditional BJJ scoring system such as:
4 for the mount, 4 for the back, 3 for a guard pass, 2 for a sweep, 2 for a takedown, 2 for knee on stomach, and 2 for a solid submission attempt that was stopped out of bounds.
All positions must be held and controlled for 3 seconds.
If a match finishes in a draw, the referee of the match will declare a winner by Referee Decision at their discretion.
